Who Are They?
EasyDNA was founded in 2006 and is a truly global company with offices in 25 countries. They do have an office in the UK and ship all their products internationally.
What Are Their Products?
EasyDNA offer a huge variety of tests including paternity, relationship testing, prenatal, ancestry, clinical, health and wellbeing, drug, animal, Dog DNA and horse DNA so really every aspect of human and animal testing. Here we focus on the health test offering.
Under health testing there are a number of smaller, very specific tests you can take including; skin care, diet and healthy weight, personality but the big test is the All in One Health testing. This covers everything from ancestry, health, skin, sports, personality and nutrition. The health part looks at genetic markers for 200 different diseases including the likes of Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis.
What’s the Science Behind The Tests
For Health DNA testing the company uses Illumina technology to analyse 700,000 genetic markers for more than 200 different diseases. The testing has a reputation for high levels of accuracy.
The company is producing even more products including Healthy Lifestyle which will analyse your DNA and then come up with an action plan that is personalised for you. They are also developing a more in depth test for intolerance.
These will vary according to the test you take but the health test will take 4 weeks from them receiving your sample.
All laboratories used are accredited following ISO17025 guidelines.
How Secure Is Your Sample?
EasyDNA say they will not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes and you can request at any time to delete all or part of your data. Data will not be disclosed to unauthorised personnel. Your sample is destroyed after testing although you can pay extra to have it archived for up to 6 months.
What’s the USP?
The immediate USP has to be the sheer volume of testing delivered, with everything from the traditional ancestry to testing your dogs DNA. But what often sets EasyDNA apart is its customer service. It is easy to speak to them either via e mail, phone ot live chat and they quote a 94% customer recommendation rate.
In 2013 and 2014 they won the Whatclinics Customer Service award. They are also one of the few companies we have seen offer a call back feature.
Prices are fairly affordable with good rates of accuracy. In fact the only really negative we could find is that the testing kits are not pre paid, you have to pay for the postage.
